I’m dreaming of a medium rare Christmas

Here’s a crazy gift idea for the holidays. Beef. Now if your husband is anything like mine, when he opens this present his eyes will light up like Ashton Kutcher opening a box of Transformer action figures.

And here’s the good news. You’ll get that warm, smug feeling knowing you got his steaks from White Oaks Pastures. The farmers at White Oaks raise grassfed cows that are allowed to roam freely and never given antibiotics or hormones.

Why is that important? Well, too many chemicals injected into your food means too many chemicals in your body. And grassfed means beef that’s high in beta carotene, vitamin E and omega 3 fatty acids. And you know how I love my omega 3 fatty acids.

Finally, there’s the CLA bonus. The meat and milk from grassfed ruminants are the richest known source of another type of good fat called “conjugated linoleic acid” or CLA. When cows are raised on fresh pasture alone, their milk and meat contain as much as five times more CLA than products from animals fed conventional diets.

MY FAMILY OWNS WHITE OAK PASTURES, AND I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND WORDS ABOUT OUR BEEF. WE RAISE OUR OWN CATTLE, AND WE PROCESS THEM IN OUR ON-FARM ABATTOIR. WE DO NOT TAKE SHORTCUTS.
